Does anyone have a goat?

Post by charlwood1005 »

We have a quite large steep bank and are thinking about getting either a couple of pigs or goats. Well to be honest OH wants pigs and I fancy goats as I feel they give better value as you can get milk, cheese, yogurt and even better you do not have to eat them.

Does anyone have 1? Would be very interested to hear your experiences.

My friends kept goats, so when I was babysitting 'give the kids a bottle-feed' was quite interesting.
You don't want to eat them, but some of the kids will be billies!
My friends sold milk to parents with astmatic children but found that it was very time consuming (they always wanted to chat), and chancy- the children could suddenly be put onto a different diet, in the winter people would be crying out for milk which wasn't there, then when there was plenty it might be hard to get rid of.
And goats are better hedge cutters than lawn mowers.

They did it for some years, so there must have been pluses.
