Monty Dog!

Post by bluebell »

I thought you might like to see Monty our dog. He came into our surgery to be PTS, he was too much for his elderly owner, who said that if we did not 'do the deed' he was going to stick him in the bath tub that day. Needless to say Monty was signed over to us, he came to stay at our house for a couple of days - that was 16 months ago.

He had a face-lift last year - his conformation wasn't good and excess skin from his mouth was removed. I put myself on the ops list the week after and am still waiting!!

He is very affectionate, has not had one 'accident' in our home and we just can't work out why anyone would not love him.

My hubby absolutely adores him and Monty loves him. He actually isn't allowed on furniture but as you can see he was feeling sorry for himself that day, that piccie was taken about 3 weeks after he came to stay with us.

Rescue pets are the best, can't understand why people pay several hundred pounds for a designer pet. Rescues love you more because they have found a lovely place to live. They say thankyou for the rest of their lives. :-D

What a lovely story Bluebell; I'm just so pleased that you were able to be at the right place at the right time - it was obviously 'meant to be'.

Rescue dogs just seem to 'know' - mine too 'knew' and was utterly adorable and we had 10 years together. May you too have many years together with Monty.

He's lovely, but aren't most dogs. Don't know how people can be so cruel. Many happy times with him.

Thanks for your lovely comments. Monty was in and out of RSPCA several times, it was them who homed Monty (who on his vaccination card had six names scribbled through - poor boy) with the old man. When we had him at our surgery the RSPCA denied all knowledge, er his microchip number was registered to RSPCA who's vet inserted it into him as a 3 month pup!!! Anyway, they contacted me 3 days after we got him wanting to know the old mans name to try and prosecute him. Since then I haven't had a great deal of time for them.

Not surprised.
I recently have had an older couple [in their 60's] being sold a 3 months old border collie from a very big rehomeing centre near to us.
Border collies need lots of things to do, in fact if they are not given a job, they become self employed.
At 6 months he is starting to get out of his pram, poor little boy.
Wendy
PS we are in our 60's and are dog savvy, but I wouldn't have one they need better than us, and my GSD is out all the time, being trained and walked etc..

hi (f+ (f+ (f+ (f+

with you there wendy re border collie, we almost got one but looked into the bread very carefully, glad we did, we decided that they were to much for us to look after,so we chose a jack russell, and apart from his chicken fetish he is perfect for us.

have rescued greyhounds in the past our first one gypsy was adorable we had her for 2 years she had an accident and died, it took us 3 years to get another one, charley was lovely to but he was bed obsessed so with young children around was not safe   he even went for my eldest daughter who was 16 at the time, she called him to let him out he jumped to his feet and showed his teeth, very scary so he had to go back we were all very sad but grwe were great i wrote a letter for his next home telling them his likes and dislikes. he found a new home without children thank goodness he was happy.

sorry about the long story

i love dogs as much as chickens )c( )c( )c(

Well done Jo.
I get people with a breed and I ask them what it was bred for and they don't know. Who would buy a dog without knowing it's basic traits ?
Then they wonder why terriers dig or Shepherds guard ???
Sorry bluebell )ot: LOL
