Poor little b*gger. how can you leave an ovary behind :? Lets hope the discharge isn't anything to worry about and she doesn't need an op until she has returned to full health.
The fact she is eating and is getting a better covering of flesh is a step in the right direction. My goodness you are keeping all the vets in work. I do hope the others will recover quickly {hug} {hug}

Thanks guys. I dont want adulation, honest, just need to know someone is out there. Sounds really pitiful, but that is how I feel.......sorry.

I doubt if anyone else was posting about all the probs that I would know what to say, either tbh. Cant find anyone who has had this happen before apart from the hip dysplasia which at the mo isnt really a huge prob. Once again thank you. XX

Thanks Linda, just been reading your post about little Rosie, bless her.

Lexi is still eating and she pinched a strawberry (she just loves them) yesterday and had no ill effects from the rear end as yet, so hopefully it will not affect her.

I was speaking to someone who was a Dr's receptionist and she said there was one woman who had a complete hysterectomy and still had some king of monthlys. They tested her for oestrogen and it was very high so they took her back in hospital after a scan because she had three ovaries apparently. So, I suppose if it can happen to humans then it can happen to animals too, just trying to think outside the box, no matter how daft.

Been thinking back and Lexi never had any signs of IBD until there was a problem as I thought, although vet said not, with a discharge and constant licking of the vulva, so now wondering as IBD can be brought on by an infection if thats what kick started it.

Jack is no longer lame, so good on that side, although Clare had to up the Cortavet, but it shouldnt do him any harm as its just a joint supplement, so fingers crossed for him.

Bella's wound is healing very nicely and is dry and no sign of any inflammation. She had her last Metacam and antibiotic today, so ....

Terry has 2 days work starting tomorrow, so good on that side too. Perhaps things are changing for the good, eh?? LOL

Hi Gwen im glad to hear things are a bit better :-D
Great news about Jack being sound again, we do know how upsetting it is seeing your boy in pain and lame as we have intermittant leg problems with both our boys.
Non of our boys have never been hammered or badly ridden by us iykwim, but our Fox is very pigeon toed and now has a bit of arthritis and our Danny damaged tendons twice in the same leg in the field.
At the moment both are fine >fi< but our Fox has a swelling that comes up at the side of his knee occaisionally, they are due thier jabs so our smashing vet will check when he's here.

I personally don't think your ideas sound daft Gwen, its suprising how many health problems trigger others off, so animals could well be the same as us.
The thing is too that you have seen poor Lexi suffer with her health and you are right to keep an open mind about things in my humble opinion.

Im glad your Bella has healed well its always a relief isn't it and luckily most pets sail through the surgery and recuperation thank goodness :-D

Also good on Terry for landing that work and i hope your bit of good luck continues Gwen :-D
Much love and Healing to you and your loved ones {hug} Lindaxx

Went back to vets last night and Lexi has lost weight.......she stopped eating for a couple of days and now weighs 35.40 kgs which is less than she did a couple of weeks ago and no weight for a dog her size. Bearing this in mind we have decided with the vet to put her on steroids, also antibiotics for 10 days to try to control the IBD. All of us agree that she is not in a good enough condition to operate on unless its an emergency, as the vet explained it is one hell of an op she will be having, more involved/long than the original spaying/pyo. She will be monitored closely and hopefully the steroids will be reduced a few weeks down the road, as cannot operate whilst she is on them and cannot just stop them, she needs to be weaned off them slowly. Going back to vets a week on Thurs unless anything untoward happens before then.

The vet has not been able to speak to the previous vet who did the spaying as yet either which is a bit annoying.

I hope Foxy's lump is nothing Linda. The bill for Bella our Staffie was £458 and it was only a small lump, just that it was in an awkward place, or so we were told.

It certainly does, Wendy. Vet still thinks we CAN sort this and tbh he comes across the type of person who would tell us if he thought differently.

This weather isnt helping her either as its sooo hot and she has a very thick coat even after moulting and being groomed every day.

Clare has just taken her off to hydro which she now loves......goes down the ramp on her own now.....and she just loves playing with the toys in the pool.

Well, we were warned by vet that this could happen because of steroids. Came down this morning to a full flood from Lexi......and.....we have recently fitted new carpet squares, so Terry not too impressed.

Unfortunately there is nowhere else in the house she can be at night except the kitchen, so we have prepared her kennel for her and she will go outside at night. Dont like doing it, but we cannot cope with her weeing each night. Have tried to rack my brains as to what else to do, but this seems the only solution. She has a huge box which is off the ground with nice beding, with sides, back and roof and she will be shielded from drafts, but there is plenty of air and kennel is approx 15 x 12 foot, so not small. We have put shavings down in one corner for her if she has to wee etc. We go to bed approx 11 - 11.30 p.m. and Clare is up at 5 - 5-30a.m. each day.

Another update, but not a good one.
Lexi has shown no sign of improvement since being on the steroids, so much so that she has lost weight yet again and now weighs 34kgs. Vet did suggest upping the steroids, but having talked/thought about this we decided we needed to go back to him, so rang him this a.m. and explained that she had 5 watery poo's in just under 8 hours. We mentioned that it might be a good idea for him to ring Davies specialist vets in Herts to see what they thought. Not that we dont trust this vet, but more heads meant more thinking/knowing.
It has resulted in her going back to Herts at 11a.m. tomorrow for a special scan and poss another endascope which will go further into the gut. The vet in Herts says if the steroids arent working then there is definitely something else going on which hopefully after tomorrow this scan will show up.
We are now weaning her off the steroids over the next two/three weeks in preparation for an op....I cant believe I am writing this, I honestly cant. Clare has decided with our backing and the vets in Lincoln that when he operates if anything major is wrong then he is to let her go on the table.
Both the Herts vet and Lincoln one say that even if there was something left, i.e. a foreign body from the spaying it should not be causing this amount of problems.....us....just dont know anymore.
If she is no longer with us we have talked about and decided to go for a post mortem....we feel we just have to know what has gone so drastically wrong if at all possible and hopefully that should help give us some answers.
We all feel absolutely gutted to be even thinking this way, but we cannot and will not put her through anymore than the above. There has to be a limit not just for her but for us too.
