Total sucker for a sob story (and far too impulsive!)

Post by boosmummy »

Yesterday we went to a big pet shop near by, to look at guinea pigs and get boo some fish. And in still in there in the adoption bit were the two most adorable rabbits! I've seen them in there before and everytime i have to go over and look at them.

Anyway, the lass in the shop was telling me, that they will only be rehomed together because a, they are mother and daughter and b, they never rehome just one if they can help it. And that some people had enquired about them but wouldnt take the two hence them still being there. Well, she picked the right customer pulling on me old heart strings she was!! So here we are introducing:

They are lovely. I have never owned a rabbit but have always loved them. I hope you all have lots of pleasure from them, lucky rabbits. :bun:

I thought Guinea Pigs too, LOL.

They look lovely and I bet Boo is really pleased. There arent many kiddies that go into a pet shop for fish and come out with two rabbits. Do you know how old they are?

no idea, one is about 18 months. The lady who had them didnt look after them at all well and they were in a tiny hutch with no run space. They are currently running around their run which is about 10ft long ish maybe a bit longer.

Ive found a hutch for about 30 quid im going to pick up later it needs some tlc but it will be grand for now until i can paint it in better weather.

The main thing is they have a lot of run space and hopefully if the roof doesnt come off again it will be dry.

And no, we're not getting any guinea pigs now!!

They are lovely, we had rabbits for some time when the chidren were young.
That looks a great home for them as well.

we've got the hutch a two tier hutch off pre-loved and they look like they're both in it.

LBF you totally have to get two!! I love rabbits i do, i had one as a kid and i loved it!

They have enough room don't they? I worry they dont have enough but i think they have ample. Over the next few weeks i'm going to get a few things to keep them occupied like little tubes to run through etc...

I am sure they will have enough room, in fact plenty. If you want something cheap for them to gnaw on which may prevent them gnawing the hutch etc, then get some apple tree branches. It helps their teeth from getting too long as well.

This may be a tip you want to take on, please dont be offended by me saying it. I found that newspaper put on the bottom of the hutch, then bedding on top was much easier to roll up and remove than just bedding on the base of the hutch.

Good idea gwen i didnt even think of that. Do you know i have a spare piece of lino and would use that but they may chew it? I think newspaper is the way forward though xx thanks for that xx And I'll look into apple branches.

To be honest there's a few things i need to get, if i could have got them at the weekend as planned i would have been a lot more prepared but we had to get them today, they couldnt reserve them until the weekend so its been a bit of a rush really xx

Our last rabbit used to like to play with plant pots, they were the plastic ones and he only had them when we were there to watch that he didnt chew them, but he used to throw them up in the air, walk round with them in his mouth and loads of other things too and they were cheap. LOL
