Hiya everyone, just thought I'd post you another Benny update.

Since our last post in August, he had a little blip in September - dog walking lady let him run like a loony despite me telling her not to *rolls eyes* and he became lame again sadly {cry}

He had another steroid injection in September and since then, he's had good and bad days, despite only having gentle lead walks and resting him up.

We saw Roman yesterday and all decided it's now time for a specialist approval.

So on Thursday, we're going to see an orthopod specialist to see what they say. They'll do a detailed examination, then scan (not sure whether MRI or CT but probably CT as it's his knee) and they'll give us an opinion on the way forward.

It could mean that Benny will have surgery on Friday. If he does, he'll need to stay in overnight {cry} till Saturday.

We'll all have to be brave this week {hug}

Here's some recent pictures of our boy...

Chilling out - this was on Bonfire Night - he's not at all bothered by the firework noise

Sorry to hear that Benny has had a relapse, silly, silly, dog walker.

Which specialist vets are you going to, as have noticed you are South? We were referred to Davies specialist vets in Herts with Lexi when she was so poorly.

Will keep everything/anything crossed for a good outcome and will be thinking of you all. {hug} {hug}

Hiya and thank you for your kind wishes and thoughts {hug}

We've been to Davies this morning and saw a vet Alan and a student vet of his David, who were both extremely nice and Alan, I thought, explained things very well indeed.

Alan knew straight away his cruciate ligament has gone and they call it a cranial cruciate ligament, rather than anterior or posterior in humans. He's having surgery tomorrow when they'll do the TPLO procedure (tibial plateau levelling osteotomy).

He'll need at least 12 weeks of rehabilitation including being in a crate for the first six weeks when we aren't with him to supervise. I've looked around and found one for the best price on Amazon.

I asked lots of questions as I'm very inquisitive anyway and love all things medical. I have also given consent for a research study on Benny's eyes (how pre-med affects his tear production) and he'll have a full opthalmology review whilst he's asleep.

Gwen gave me a very good tip about Benny's food, as he will stay overnight tomorrow - thank you. I wasn't going to take some, but I definitely will now. It'll be something familiar for him and less things to have to deal with, bless him. Although I understand he'll be having quite a lot of strong medication (morphine and the like), so we'll see how he goes with wanting to eat.

Our home will feel very strange tomorrow. Will let you know how we get on {hug}

We're a right family at the mo - as some of you know, my back's gone up the spout. Marki had something stuck in his foot earlier in the week and now his back/neck/shoulders are up the spout too, combined with Benny we're a right family! {rofwl} At least the girls are fine *touch wood* xx

Thanks for all your kind wishes {hug}

It all went well yesterday and we've just brought him home {hug}

He's a bit spaced out, bless him, but he's doing okay and we're letting him rest and sleep it all off.

He went straight into his crate
