End of my tether

Post by urbanchicks »

I posted on here a few weeks ago this thread about my Cavalier Coco with his major terminal heart problem,he is now getting worse each day so will have to make the decision soon,now another bitch Molly has had a few "turns" recently and was diagnosed with epilepsy,got the tablets today for her £37.50 for 100.My point is I don't know how much longer I can cope with all this doom and gloom,have 2 19 yr old cats who foul everywhere and another 12 year old cat with severe diarrhoea who has had a £150 blood and poo test (all inconclusive) 2 lots of AB's and is still unwell.

Oh, so sorry - it is hard enough watching one treasured pet getting old, let alone several. {hug}

I will commiserate with you and will give you a HUGE {hug}

We too have had a horrendous year, 2 horses pts, another horse with big probs that will not end well, 1 rabbit died, Lexi dog at 16 months old pts and now Bella our 10 yr Staffie with soft tissue probs and the xrays showed up the start of bone cancer, so really do understand where you are coming from.

Have another HUGE {hug} from me and live in the hope like me that things have got to get better. XXX

Poor you, I really feel sorry for you, with all that you have going on
Having pets that are ill and/or aging is so hard.
How long will the 100 tablets last for?
The cost of vets/meds is so upsetting, when your poor pets health/life is all you care about.

I hope your pets meds are making their lives better so that its easier for you to justify the heartache of worrying about and looking at them age. My old dog is snoring on my lap right now, hes moaning if I move an inch, so I know life is good for both of us for the time being.

Coco is a bit better at the moment, upped his water tablets so his bloated stomach is smaller,the 2 geriatrics are fit as fiddles and still fouling everywhere.Thank you for all your support, will update when things happen.

Coco my 13yr old Cavvie has had a very bad heart for over 11 yrs now but has got worse recently, last week he collapsed after choking on a treat,as the vets are next door to me,I ran round and she came back to the house, he was taken to the surgery and given an injection of frusimide and observed for an hour, i brought him home and he was fairly OK.Today I took him for a check up and decided enough was enough so I agreed to let him go.I am sitting here now feeling very upset and guilty, he was 13yrs last month, have I made the right decision.I shall miss him.

Maggie.

Was he having a full and happy life?
Was he going to get any better?
Is there a cure?
Is he likely to suffer if you were to put off the decision?
The answer to the first only you will know but the answer to the last three are more than likely no, so in the long run you have done the right thing by him.
You can only go with your best decision at the time and try not to second guess yourself in the days to come.
