Death because of no understanding

Post by barboo »

Ive just read on the bbc news about a young girl who died because of her pet dog attacking her,
The dog had come from a rescue centre and been rehomed only a few weeks before it attacked the young child,
This came about because the little girl was off school sick and tried to cuddle the dog,

A lot of people dont know or understand animals ways and whats not the right thing to do,
Its a sign to a dog that if you put your arms around its neck your a threat, the same is when you pat it's head, even stroking a dog that you and the dog dont know each other is again not the thing to be doing,
Just look at any wild life films ref lions etc trying to kill its prey!!! claws around the neck,

It's better to stroke the rear end rump but look for signs of what the dogs body is telling you, if it stiffens up and turns it head towards you "look out" the dogs not happy and feels a threat,
Dont sneak up and try to stroke it, the dogs new to you and your not his tried & trusted friend yet? (you dont know what it's past life was like, what the dogs had to put up with!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The dogs ears give away it's feelings, if they stick up the dogs thinking, if they go to the rear its scared and may just bite,
If it's growling thats a very late warning and the signal to back off "slowly"
If the teeth are showing in an aggresive way
( to a child this may look like a smile) and if the child continues to do what ever the dog's not happy with ???? LOOK OUT

If your not a friend of the dog and you stare into its eyes, !!!! The dog's reaction is "your a threat in front of me,
Just like if you stare into a strangers eyes, its not a friendly way to do things.

And as for babies crying and pulling dogs ears, etc etc
to the dog your again not the boss not his baby and needs tobe put in your place ref the pecking order.

If you get a dog from a puppy stage then you have a chance to train it to your way of living,
But if you take a fully grown dog, it takes time for the dog to know who who's,
known as the pack order and the dog has to earn your trust and you have to earn the dogs,
Children also need to understand these facts before its to late,
Some breeds of dogs are not suitable for indoor's or for children or other animals,
they're history and what they we're oridginally bred for needs to be learnt before any person decideds to have a dog.
Wlking your dog on a lead,
this is the time for the dog to sniff "read the local news ie whats walked past here ?
or some dogs need to chew grass and they'll take time to find what grass they fancy,
They may want to leave their very own message telling other animals this is their patch or they've past this way, "Walking is very important to the dog and just remember a walk not a pull by the neck experience.
Now because this little girl decided to do what she thought was a nice thing "give her dog of only 4 weeks a friendly cuddle she's dead

Please please find out all you can what the dogs needs are and if its a good idea to give any animal a home.,
Dogs can talk but you need to learn their language to know if they're having a bad day or if they're ill and a bitch while in season has what most women would gladly do without
but you need to know and understand these signs.

You have to pass a test to drive a car because in the wrong hands the car can be dangerous,
You need to prove nothing to no one to have a dog.

(Sad so sad)

Whatever was the rescue centre thinking of.

You can't expect a child to know unless told, and even then it doesn't sound as if that dog was suitable for that home.

Sadly the only dog body language most people know is a wagging tail and sometimes that is always a sign of a friendly dog !

If you can't be a good example........
you will just have to be a horrible warning
