SAD Light for Cats

Post by Richard »

My poor ginger cat is getting on a bit, about 14 / 15 I think.

He's a runt, always been quite skinny and dislikes cold, therefore Winter in general.

Also, he's never been the same since his adopted sister who he used to keep warm with died some 18 month's ago.

Poor thing seems quite depressed not getting out into the warm greenhouse and laying in the Sun.

So I thought I'd give him 20 minutes with the SAD lamp every day.

Does anyone else use them for their Pets?

Aww bless him. I would never have thought of that but what a great idea!
No girls at the moment but look forward to getting more in the future. Proud mummy to Hector, a Bedlington Terrier x Jack Russell

They're supposed to be for Humans and Pets alike, so thought I'd give it a try.

If it works a bit it works, if it doesn't it doesn't. No harm in trying )t'

Has the light helped you, Richard?

Like you say, no harm in trying on your cat. I hope it works.

Our Molly is 14 now and the opposite of yours by the sound of it. We always fight to keep the weight off her, but in general her health is good although she does have to have a special dried diet because she has had crystals in her water. She has always been rather lazy, but I did read somewhere that it is normal for cats to sleep 16 hours out of 24 unlike us.
