Post by kitla »

This morning I took my son to choose his puppy, they're only 3 weeks old atm but
this one seemed to decide himself that he was the one!

Thanks. I'm not sure how Toffee will react. A few days ago she met the neighbour's
tiny KC Spaniel puppy & she ran away & hid from it!

Ha ha! I forsee my son may regret the name! I told him to make sure he
doesnt lose Mojo as no one will take him seriously.

What a gorgeous little baby. Your son must be counting the days to have him home. Fun time ahead for both. )like(

Well Mojo has certainly arrived. 2 days in and I'm exhausted!
Here he is, big chunky bundle of lovely pup

Don't let that innocent face fool you

The only way poor Toffee will go near him

Toffee's is rather a fearful dog so I'm not surprised that she growls and tells Mojo
off when he tries to play with her, but I'm a bit concerned when she growls when
he comes into the room she's in. I know it will take time for her to accept him,
it's a fear reaction not an aggressive one so I'm not afraid for him, but I realize
that how we deal with it now may affect how things go later. So I think we need
advice on this, perhaps from a dog behaviorist. Wendy, if you're there do you think
that would be wise or am I worrying too soon? It has only been 2 days but I dont
want the situation to escalate.

Yes. the older ones do not like a little upstart coming in.
Obviously, do not leave them alone and tasty treats ONLY when Mojo, is around for Toffee.
If mine have been anything to go by, after a few days they settle.
Toffee should be allowed to tell Mojo off if his play gets OTT. But that should only be a mean look, or a grumble. Puppies should not be allowed to harass the oldies.
Give it a few watchful days.

Glad you have got your puppy. Boy are they tiring. We had two inside three years, due to the sudden death of the first one, and they both tormented my older sheltie, but they soon grow, become leggy, and in no time are their final size.

He looks quite big already. I don't think you told us his breed - how big will he be?
