EdnaEdnaEdna is a 22 yr old Welsh Sect D pony who Clare has owned for a number of years as a companion originally for the Shire she had, now she has two companions in the shape of mini shetlands.
Over the period of time she has been with Clare her health has been very good, little bit stiffer which has been helped with Turmeric, but nothing big until a few weeks ago and she started to lose blood from the rear end. Not a lot, but non the less it was happening and needed sorting. The vet is here now and scoping her female bits to see if there is a big problem. Please keep everything crossed for her as she is a lovely old lady that in the past has been very mistreated/misunderstood. Re: EdnaVet been and gone, Edna now come round from doping non the worse.
Vet is almost certain it is varicose veins and given a little time the bleeding should stop. PHEW, did not realise how uptight I was until now and I have relaxed. Just got to keep an eye on her and if it gets any worse to ring up, but he doesn't think it will do. He is an excellent equine vet that we have dealt with over a long period of time now and dare I say it, usually he is right. Thanks Spreckly for your good wishes, much appreciated.
Re: EdnaOh bless her...never thought of equine varicose veins...mind you no reason why they wouldn't.
Hope Edna is feeling better. ¸.•´¸.•*´¨) ¸.•*¨)✰

Sunny Clucker enjoyed Folk music and song in mid-Cheshire Re: EdnaThanks, Manda and Mo. Just goes to show you learn a little something each day. LOL
We learnt something yesterday from the vet, apparently mares carry on having 'seasons' right through to the end of life. I would definitely not want to be a mare........
Re: EdnaHope Edna gets on OK and the bleeding stops. Your vet sounds to be very knowledgeable and as you have obviously dealt with him before, no doubt you trust his judgement. So, fingers crossed your lovely old lady should be fine and able to enjoy her retirement with your and your daughter. I would LOVE to see a photo of her and what a wonderful name - Edna. Good luck.
Re: EdnaThanks, Cheshire Chick she is a lovely kind lady.
Will ask number two daughter when we get back from Scotland to put a piccie up for us as I am techno phobic. LOL We did not name her, she was already named from the previous owner and have to admit you are the first and only person to like the name. Normally we get hoots of laughter. LOL
Re: EdnaOnly just catching up on Edna. I do hope your dear old lady is soon made more comfortable. Such a worry when the animals that are in our care
have something wrong. I am now a widow and live with my memories.
Re: EdnaI would like to send lots of get well wishes to Edna too
