Poor little dog

Has she got anything that smells like her family/home with her?

Wendy is probably the one to help out with this one.

Good luck

cheers

hi Emma,
I think a lot of one to one would help but depends on available time
to spare.how long are you looking after the poor dog for?

Poor little mite - if she's blind then things can feel much worse. Any familiar smells or sounds would be good?

Put her favourite blanket / toys in her bed
Wear one of your friends item of clothing when going near her
Keep her routine as much as your can

Hope your friend comes back soon!!!

Awww, she's so sweet! Presumably as she is blind she's got no idea of what is around her - must be used to the layout of her own home and totally disorientated at yours.

How is she with you? Will she sit on your lap?

I'd be tempted to give her touching contact all of the time, but that's not exactly practical.

How about giving her a large box to sleep/sit in (plus her curtains) - might make her feel more secure if she is aware of her own small space. And newspapers in one place outside of the box for her toilet? Does she "go" outside at home? If so I expect that she is distressed to be doing it inside now.

Poor little doggie.

Will she let you pick her up?
Is she eating/drinking?

She let me pick her up last night. She still won't come out the kitchen and is peeing everywhere. I know she can't see but I put down some paper like my friends told me to but she just goes anywhere and everywhere. My whole kitchen stinks of wee.

Yes, she has cateracts. I've been stroking her but she just shivers and cowers away from me. I can pick her up but she has wet herself. She's so old bless her and so sweet. I let her out in the garden for a while earlier. She just weed continuously.
