Advantages of deafness.

Post by Meanqueen »

As this is about maintaining well being, I will just mention that being almost deaf in one side has it's advantages. My next door but one neighbours are very keen on using noisy machinery in their garden, {mr.angry} don't know what they are doing, the hedge is too high and thick to see over and through. I suspect is it some kind of saw.

However, instead of going round there and playing merry hell with them, {warn} (I want a peacefull life), the ideal solution for me is to switch off my hearing aid whilst they are making a noise. It works perfectly, selective hearing. )grin2(

It is the only advantage, I will add.
But I think it is great when I am in bed and there is thunderstorm raging. If I sleep on the 'wrong' side I can't hear a thing and sleep through it.
The worse part of a hearing aid, if when you take it out, you are so totally deaf, you really realise how much you cannot hear. )dwn:

I always switch mine on because the batteries are free, )grin2( . Yes it does enable you to sleep better through noise, if you sleep on your good side. ~eep~

I use foam earplugs when I'm calling with one of the bands I go out with (since I stand in front of them). They were in a hall with a sound limiter last week so I took one out.

Advantage: I thought my children slept like angels from birth, I just used to kip on my good ear - couldn't hear them crying

Disadvantage: I have to hunt round like a mad woman to identify the source of noises I can hear because I can't determione their place with one ear :?
