Fiftysomethings make more effort

I'd go along with this. I was definitely the fittest I'd ever been when I hit my early 30's, lost some ground when I had the children, then started working up again. But I certainly intend to hit 50 at a new peak of physical fitness, and I have often commented to my husband I'm in better shape than a lot of girls half my age.

I hit the big 5-0 in December this year and I am fitter than I have been in years, since Easter I have lost over 1 1/2 stone, I can now walk up the hill to the field to walk the dog in long strides instead of small steps and having to stop half way, and I started aquafit classes this week and love it.

I intend not being fat, un-fit and fifty )t'

I think I am fitter than in my forties. We certainly do more and never seem to stop.
I have more energy in my little finger, than some of my friends youngsters have in the whole of their body!.
We walk for England, not only our 4 dogs but also a friends guide dog and another one, that I have left over from my dog walking days. Every evening, except Wednesdays, we are out doing something and we also go to pilates classes twice a week. We are her oldest clients and she doesn't give us any leaway. She is 62 herself and has the figure and suppleness of a twenty year old, so we get no favours. We both still work part time, as well
I am 65 he is 67 how much longer this goes on, your guess is as good as mine. But I have no intention of stopping, just have to hope our health remains good.

Oh well, there had to be one didn't there!

I just don't do any deliberate excercise. I really hate walking - seems totally pointless to me. Give me a sofa anyday!

I used to belong to a gym and loved the dancing and aerobics and tolerated a couple of lengths of the pool , but I felt so hungry afterwards and put on so much weight and couldn't shift it. confused>

So I am happy to potter in my garden and do what I do in my busy life, but deliberate exercise - absolutely not.

I would hate going to a gym - yuck, and the dog makes me walk - I enjoy it once I get going but its only him nagging me that gets me out! But the aquafit I started this week is such good fun I wish it was more than twice a week!

Used to go to the gym and do weight lifting, would you believe. Hurt my shoulder and can't do it now.
But gardening is very good for you Helen.
