Tubular Toenail

Post by JUNO »

Does anyone else have this problem? My big toe nail is becoming curved like a vertical tube and is becoming painful, as it is pressing on my shoes. I suppose I should see a chiropodist, but amd a bit reluctant to do so.

See a chiropodist, they can sort these things out quickly and it could cause other problems by changing the way you walk. Plus it is rotten having painful feet!

Definitly go see a chiropodist, They really are good, I go every 6-8 weeks as i have really bad feet. OH has a toe nail like yours and goes every 4 months or so. Definitly worth it :-D

ALL my hubby's toenails are like that, he went to the doc years ago and was told it was a fungal thing, he would have to take medication for 7 years to cure it, so he never bothered. But they cause him no end of grief, I suspect his bad knees are a result of him walking differently to ease the pain on the toes and I'm sure there must be something better on the market that would work a lot quicker nowadays, so I'd say go and check it out - I'd be interested to know the result so I can pass it on to my hubby.

Thanks for your replies. I am going to doctor's today for a blood test and while I am there, will see if I can make an appointment for the foot clinic. Will let you know how I get on.

I'm not sure what a tubular toe nail is, but I have two very hard and thick ones. They cause me no pain and do not affect my walking. I soak my feet and trim them with scissors to keep the length short. But if anything hurts I go and get it seen to.

I have been told that I must be recommended by the doctor to go to the foot clinic, so next time I see the doctor I will ask about my big toenail. Should be sometime next week.

Toenails take a long time to go wrong and a long time to get better. My oh has a mankey big toenail and went to the docs, who said that no one ever died of a mankey toenail...and sent him home ..no medication or anything.

A football injury, I believe that went wrong and if the foot had been amputated he might still be here, being rastafarian he believed that you must meet your maker whole not with anything missing and refused treatment. I dare say , the effects of the ganja caused some of his problems  We found out so much whilst in Jamaica, it's almost like he is still here, the music lives on (f+
