I cant help but think that if times hadnt changed so much maybe we all go to the doctor more at the first sign of ill health but the way some doctors treat us is appaulling.. okay not all I did say some .... and it is only from my expeirence sorry if I offend anyone but one of my Gps is a nightmare - if I feel ill I wont even go see him anymore I dont even get to show him my problems before he sits there and says it will go on its own dont worry!!

Anyhow at least you went in the end and at least you will hopefully start to feel better now.

Bailey you poor thing - they should not say that to you. Can you see another one in your practice?

When we moved to where we are now and joined a new practice I had a bad experience with one of the GPs - I now refuse an appointment if she's the only one with any available.

I had an ear infection, the room was spinning I felt so dizzy and I was in agony. I'm allergic to penicillin and she only went and prescribed me amoxicillin (a type of penicillin). Thank goodness I knew what it was and I looked at the script and asked her to re write it.

Sounds like the doctor I saw yesterday. When I finally rang for an appointment, he was the only one available (because nobody ever wants to see him). I picked the phone up three times to cancel it as I didn't see the point in seeing him. He ALWAYS makes people feel like complete time wasters and is SO condescending and arrogant.
But he was really nice yesterday, didn't once make me feel like a total numpty. He even asked me why it had taken me so long to see a doctor - I SO wanted to say "Because I knew I'd get stuck with you and you're normally a condescending g*t" but I thought I'd better not :oops:

Poor you, I hope you are feelng better soon.

And of course people don't go to the doc with cold/flu symptome - they always tell you not to as "it's a virus and we can't give you anything" and that look as if to say "stop wasting my time".

Oh believe me I no longer see him lol , I always request another GP now and if he is the only one I just refuse the appointment Like you.
I had a simular expeirence to you regarding the allergies , Im allergic to a cream they use on me to treat my skin condition , I went to see HIM and he prescibed me this cream , I then had to tell him I was allergic to it and he said use sparingly my usual GP was on holiday but he came back I asked his advice he advised me not to use it at all and even referred me to a skin specialist.

Sounds like you too was lucky with the penicillin thing it could have been so dangerous if you had taken it.

Blimey that's shocking! yike* I'd hazard a guess this guy doesn't have an 'interest' in skin then!!

Now I'm not sure what to do...

The Dr said he was giving me a weeks course of penicillin and that he thought I may need more when these had finished. But when I got home, he'd only given me 5 days. I have just taken the last one...

I'm not 100% better, still getting quite a lot of sinus pain and still got a bit of cystitis (although my chest feels almost better )t' ) I am very tempted to go back in the morning and get some more (he did say to go back if I wasn't 100% better) but they have REALLY upset my tummy. TBH my tummy now feels worse than anything else but I'm worried that if I don't get more, the infection will just come back again and I'll be back to square one {cry}

Unfortunately, antibiotics can do that to your tum. I think I would ge back and explain the situation to the Doc and see what he says.
So sorry you are poorly, please get well soon. {hug} {hug}

Sorry you're still not 100% Lucy - I'd definitely go back.

Ask your doc to prescribe you one that isn't as nasty on the tum - or if you can have a Yakhult drink or other probiotic, I find they do help with the anti biotics that are processed in the stomach.

Went back to the doctors this morning and for once actually got to see my own GP who is lovely :-D

She said my chest is now clear so is confident the infection there has gone. She said they don't normally prescribe antibiotics for sinus infection (and totally ignored the cystitis) so was reluctant to prescribe more, especially as my symptoms are much better than last week even though not 100%.

She's given me a steroid nasal spray and told me to come back in a week if it's still painful or earlier if it gets worse again )t'

Bev, I got some yakult last night and have had a few already. Yuk, I don't do cow juice unless I have to sile}

Lucy are you drinking cranberry juice too ? I know its more of a preventative but maybe if the cystitus is on the wane it would help it on its way {hug}
