What causes the pain in my side that occurs suddenly while I am running and how can I prevent it?

Exercise-related transient abdominal pain is quite common in Athletes. Spasms of the diaphragm occur because of the movement of the internal organs as they jounce up and down while running, thus pulling down and straining the diaphragm as it moves up while exhaling.

I would suggest stretching exercises to relieve tension and maybe increase salt for a while.

Basically, it's stitch.
