Very painful back

Post by albertajune »

Well, today I am suffering a very sore back, and it serves me right.
We decided that a 35ft, 20yr old box hedge needed to be taken out and a low fence put in it's place. It was dead inside it and each time it was trimmed, the dead wood showed. Besides which, being both in our 70's, thought we should make the garden more labour saving.
My OH is one of those people, who when a decision is made, wants to get on with it. Which he did in all that heat yesterday and after having a triple bi-pass op only months ago. He is now very fit but I still worry at such exertion.
To cut a long story short, I decided to help and spent all day cutting down the stems with him following me up and removing the roots with a crowbar.
I felt fine yesterday and today at the time of cleaning out the chooks, but into the morning am having a real problem moving.
It does serve me right as I know I shouldn't have done it but it is now all out and job finished. I can only now rub in the linement and take a few painkillers while he plans the making of the fence.
I'm just feeling sorry for my stupid self.
I am now a widow and live with my memories.

Take it easy today, but keep moving gently (I think that's the advice).
Hope it soon clears up.

Warm bath with some lavender or rosemary essential oil may help. You can put a few sprigs of the plant in if you don't have the oil. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks ladies. Today, still very sore but can move, so having a very lazy day just pottering.
The evening before, my son had said how well I was walking after the hip ops. He said I used to be so slow and bent over, just like a really old lady, but now I walk fast and upright..
Last evening my OH thought it very funny that I was walking with 2 sticks, very slowly and bent over. Just like a very old lady. }hairout{ I couldn't see the funny side then but can now.
