Eye appointment at last

Post by albertajune »

When I had cataracts removed, new lenses were put in to replace the old ones. Over the last year, one of them has thickened and badly affected my sight. Everything is a blur. This can be remedies with laser treatment and I have the appointment for the 24th June.
I really can't wait, as it is stopping me from doing lots of the things I enjoy doing, even coming onto the Lane is a problem. I manage though, but do hate the bit of nausea that comes with dodgy vision.
It has made me realise just how important sight is and how low my tolerance is at not being able to do things. I will look at those people who cope all the time with permanent visual disabilities, with new admiration.
I am now a widow and live with my memories.

My husbands Grandmother had sight problems later in life (she reached 103).
So frustrating for her, as her main interests were sewing and cooking.
Glad that yours can be fixed, there was nothing they could do for her. She still tried to carry on though. On one visit we were given an iced sponge. When we cut it we found the greaseproof paper, still under the icing.

What a kind lady you are Manda. {hug} The font that you have replied with is much easier for me. This is a temporary thing, I hope, but a real nuisance to me when reading.

I have my computer set to a larger size, on my Internet Explorer there is a toolbar (with tiny print) and clicking View gives me options to zoom and increase text size. The same options come up if I'm using Chrome and click the 3 bars on the right, next to the address bar.
I find it more comfortable to increase to 125 or 150%

I'm glad that helped ...which browser do you use....as Mo says ...if you go to the tools section you will able to increase the size of the view of the screen which might make the whole lane easier.

The sooner it is sorted the better June. A whole new world again )t'
My friend is totally blind, since 11 years old, and had been deaf since birth. She has my greatest admiration. Does everything for herself, cooks and works out the electrical things much quicker than me.

June, Did you knowthat if you click in the window you're looking at and then press 'control' and '+' (the plus sign) this zooms it and makes it bigger? Control and minus makes it smaller again. You might find that helps. Hope you get sorted soon.
