For a long time different doctors have tried to persuede me to take blood thinning dr-ugs which I have resisted. In the past I have had either procedures or cuts etc when I have bled profusely. I went to the hospital yesterday in preparation to having injections in the spinal area on the 21st of Dec and had to say what dr-ugs I was taking. Their records show that I am being prescibed a drug that I had actually refused. This was one that the consultant in the heart clinic asked me to take or at least for me to talk to the team in the the blood clinic. When there I had numerous blood tests , all normal but 2 . I was never told what the problem was but it was brought to my attention yesterday. I was told that I have a genetic condition called Von Wellebrand desease, something I have never heard of. Basically my blood is not clotting efficiently and in no way do I need dr-ugs to thin my blood. As the nurse said in the hospital, I did the right thing in not taking even asprin which I have on repeat prescription. What a relief to know at last that I no longer have to battle the medical proffesion.
Von Willibrands disease is in certain breeds of dogs, particularly Dobermanns. It was thought that my Josie had it. She certainly did have that or haemophilia, they could never get to the bottom of it.
You certainly should not be taking blood thinning tablets. How annoying they slipped a drug in that you had refused. I am very anti taking tablets. I take a diuretic for HBP and nothing else. I hope all goes well.
I don't know to what degree I have it. I severely hemoraged in childbirh and with various surgeries but no one has ever investigated as to why. Just hope I haven't passed it down.
