Meditation - easy!!!! (and good for you) ...

Post by Annemieke »

Whenever meditation is mentioned online, you will find a picture of an attractive young person, sitting cross-legged, preferably on a beach. Don’t I hate those! I have meditated for years, sitting in a chair, with good back support. Or I do my favourite: walking meditation.
You can meditate in ANY position, provided you are comfortable.
And ‘emptying your mind’ is impossible. The harder you try, the worse it gets.
Meditating should be effortless: when your mind wanders, as it is bound to do, you just bring it back gently, time and again. And again. Without worrying. Without telling it off. It does not matter at all!

Here are a few nice websites for beginners: just experiment.

If sitting still, even in a chair, is your problem, try Walking Meditation:

https://www.meditationoasis.com/how-to- ... editation/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.wildmind.org/walking/overview" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
https://www.verywell.com/use-walking-me ... ef-3144792" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://howtobehappy.guru/what-is-walking-meditation/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Or you can do ‘Mindfulness Meditation’, which means simply paying attention to whatever you are experiencing at that moment. It can be done while brushing your teeth, driving or washing up.
For a beginners technique see https://www.verywell.com/mindfulness-meditation-88369" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

Just experiment - play around. Meditation is good for everything. It may be the best thing you've done this year.

Thanks for all the info on meditation sites. I have had physical reactions to stress fo some time now and have thought that meditation will possibly help. I will have a good look through them tomorrow. )t'

I like the idea and I am currently read the autobiography of Paramahansa Yogananda - the guy credited with bringing meditation to the West.
