I have sore memories of patchwork.
As a child I was a member of GLB (now called Girls Brigade, similar to Guides), and we could work for badges. I spent ages (months my memory says) sewing a patchwork quilt for a thrift badge.
Not a thing of beauty and design like yours, but a thing of thrift, using bits and pieces of fabric that we had about the house. Sewed them into strips on the machine, then the strips into a rectangle. I think I had some help backing it with an old blanket.
I can't remember how old I was, 10 or 11 or maybe younger. I was encouraged to do arty crafty things but I've never been very neat, so I don't suppose it was marvellous.
Anyway I got the badge, and the Division was having some sort of show or competition which this quilt was entered.
When we went round it had a judges comment label on it saying
Shoddy work

She will eventually, Dom! :?

Seriously, Ali has got some beautiful quilts there. A lot of hard work gone into them.
