Jigsaw puzzling

Post by Babycakes »

I really love jigsaws. I have always had loads of them. At the moment I have 2 on the go at home - a Peter Pan one that has loads of hidden images in it which I am going to frame for Grace's new bedroom, and one that is of lots of different covers from Agatha Christie books.

I also found this:

I never knew you could do jigsaws online!! And the pictures are brilliant too.

That's a great link, Sarah, thanks. There is a puzzle of a chickens head, click on animals. When you start the puzzle the picture goes away and you are left with just the pieces. It might be an idea to have two pages open when you do it, so you can keep referring back to the picture.

Funny, when I first saw it I thought, "ooh, thats the kind of free entertainment that Ilona will like!" :-D

They arent too hard to do with no picture. You can change the difficulty too, so that you have to rotate the pieces as well as find where they fit. I have not done that LoL

How good is that?! I just did the chicken one in just over 8 minutes.

I stopped doing jigsaws because of my bad eyesight, it meant that unless I was in a really good light I couldn't see, and also I got a stiff back with all the stooping over. I can see me getting really into this!

I have put it in my favourites as well. I love jigsaws, but not a lot of time to do them unfortunately

When I was poorly a few years back I spent lots of time doing jigsaw puzzles, now though I don't do them any more. I go through phases of hobbies and no doubt puzzling will be a phase again so I will keep that link, no one can knock it off the table or whatever!

I noted this hasn't been responded to for sometime, but as a newcomer, I am looking at all topics.

I have been doing jigsaws since childhood, but of late, too busy doing other things to do any. At the last count, my wife and I had over 100 of them, in various subjects, and mainly of 1,000 pieces. Some we have framed and have hanging around our home.

I like doing them as well.
We got an over 1000 piece one for the Christmas.
My Friend Val and I spent 5 hours Christmas evening doing it, I have been backwards and forwards since. But it still isn't done :?

I missed this thread first time. I love doing jigsaw puzzles but now only have time for one at christmas. This year's was a thousand piece one of a rack of brightly coloured shoes.
As my eyesight has degenerated I can only do jigsaws in daylight so I don't have the time to do the 3000 piece ones that I used to.
I think I prefer the smaller puzzles anyway.

I have found little puzzles online for the children that I mind but hadn't thought to look for grown up ones. Thanks Babycakes.

I love jigsaw puzzles too, thanks for bumping this thread. Free puzzles online - great!
We always have a big family jigsaw at Xmas, often with wildlife. I buy from charity shops, and also my library has a puzzle exchange scheme - very frugal! I especially like the 3D ones - anyone do those?

I missed this one too.

What is a 3D puzzle? Is that like a model or are the pieces still flat cardboard bits?

A 3D one Mo is shapes with pictures that form the shape of the same, instead of remaining flat, e.g., the globe would be round, a ship would be of the same shape, etc..

I do hope this is of help to you.
