I play sax in a big band!

Post by Al B »

I play the alto sax in a funky and very loud big band! It is the best stress release I know. We play lots of Glenn Miller stuff plus more modern funk, jazz, latin and rock numbers. We do gigs all over the South Wales area and into Glos. Anyone interested in booking us can look at our website and listen to some of our numbers recorded live at the Wales Millenium Centre -

www.a470sbigband.co.uk

We are a community band so do not profit from gigs all money goes to charity and purchasing music.

We can do weddings, parties, balls etc etc etc.........

Sorry this has turned into an ad.......

Good for you.
It's a real joy playing with other people.
I play folk music in pub sessions, not very well. When someone starts an easy tune an everyone joins in and raise the roof it give me a real lift to be part of it.
I won't advertise the calling I do for wedding Ceilidhs with various Folk Bands (?!?)

I am the big blond playing the alto in the front row!! The photos on the site are poor - hoping to get better ones up soon. We went to the Cork jazz festival last year - fab fun! Going again this October - Guiness and jazz - great combo! OH comes as a roadie, what a surprise!

I love big bands, Jools Holland etc. and also The Dorsey's, Glenn Miller, etc.
Swing has something about it.

In the modern era, I've a lot of 'Blood Sweat and Tears'.

We are currently playing some of Jool's stuff that he has arranged - difficult but sounds great when we get it right! Can't beat a good tune.....sounds like the "You Know Your'e Getting Old When" thread re-emerging......
