Just seen a young lad on his first sea angling trip has caught a 43lb 9ozs cod just off of Pevensey Bay. He's broken the record

That is some fish,beats my best by 30 lb,the first Red Gunnard I ever saw was the one your OH caught out in Killala Bay,that was a beautiful fish.

That is a fish, thrown back to breed?

Loads of Red Gurnard off Cornwall, there was last time I fished it.

It was a cod and more than likely escaped to the part where the fisherman are not allowed to fish.

Just had a peek of it, its a smashing looking fish. You dont see many that size landed today. We use to call big cod like that a Spragg aboard the trawlers.

Makes my 8 pounder seem quite pathetic !
I saw a picture of the record breaker in the paper it was indeed a whopper!
