More verses

Post by Mo »

A.T. O. F. P.
I tread on the second stair
For curled on the first
is
No Cat

With my refilled mug I sit with care
As cosy in my warmed seat
is
No Cat

The carpet by the bedroom door is scratched
But the door stays shut, our sleep is disturbed
by
No Cat

In the garden, asleep on a pile of warm grass
Or under the nearest bush when I dig
is
No Cat

At night when I walk down the lane
White feet silent, grey head invisible,
beside me
Not even the ghost of a Cat

I like that Mo {hug}

Yes, it's about our previous cat Socks. He was very friendly and would walk me to the postbox, with a diversion up the telegrah pole. In the dark I thought he was a 'headless horseman' cat, as all you could see was his white feet.
And after he'd gone I kept seeing him in 'all the old familiar places'.

It's taken me 10 years to write it, and I've still not got it quite right.

That is beautiful Mo. Your feelings come over so clearly that right from the start I knew that it was about the loss of a loved cat.
I am now a widow and live with my memories.

Ha! Manda, it brought a lump to my throat and tears to my eyes...I thought I was just being too emotional, but it was touching, wasn't it!
