I have crochet a double bedspread in dishcloth cotton. It is truly beautiful, although I say it myself. But boy is it
heavy We have it in the spare bedroom as it is like a workout taking it on and off the bed.

Am on my second one
I got 200gs of baby double knit for £2.99 each, from Aldi is that a reasonable price, makes the blanket very reasonable in outlay, and I don't charge myself by the hour

I just can't seem to get the hang of it. I have about 12 little middles that I have abandoned as I haven't a clue what I am doing. They have all turned out different shapes too

I remember my mum was the same when she started Helen, I was quite wee and she kept chucking bits of crochet at me saying "here, I've made your barbie another hat!"
I'm sure you'll get there in the end

That is very lovely, Perchy. Well done.
For anyone in particular ?
Helen, it is trial and error. Once you get the corners in the right place, you will be away.
I also find booties very fiddley.

Well, you all inspired me so much that I gave it another go - I undid it 11 times and have been at it for over 2 hours.
So, roundish is the new square
I am not sure this is for me - but I so want it to be

That's good to know but how long did it take you to get the hang of it?

I got a book - think its called Rowan Crochet workshop and it has very good photo's - I think eventually you just "see" the square and know when you have to make a corner and then you think why did I find it so hard? That's not much help is it
There's some good instructions here with photo's which might help

Wow, thanks Julie - that makes it look so simple and I am nearly late for work now as I got so engrossed in it!!
I asked my 5 year old grandaughter if she would like my bit of crochet for a blanket in her dolls house and she said 'No, it's rubbish'
I was laughing so much I had tears running down my face.
