Mr Spreckly's Bow Top Gypsy Caravans

Post by Spreckly »

Mr Spreckly is feeling better since then he has completed the decoration of the front of a gypsy bow top caravan, done various bits and pieces in the garden, and today he has cut the back lawn for the first time this year.

It is a huge, huge relief, and I hope that all is well with you.

I'm glad he's better now.

This sounds interesting ... do you have pictures?

I will ask OH to try and put the photo he took yesterday of the bow top front on the site for you Little Brown Frog - though we do struggle with photos!

OH has decorated two bowtops completely, refurbishing one totally, decorated one flat cart, and one tilt wagon. Very time consuming, and the remit is very, very poor, but he just loves doing it. We have a friend who has bowtops, flat carts and horses, a non-traveller. OH will not work for travellers, after one hugely ripped him off.

Off topic, but a few years ago we had a weekend in a bowtop, in Wales. It was parked by a stream, and we had the use of the little cabin for cooking and toilet facilities. The wagon had fairy lights in the roof, and a small heater, which was a treat, as it was mid-autumn.

Thank you for your kind comments about the photos. OH is self taught. Started water colours, and acrylics when he retired, and just went on from there. He is a joiner by trade, so restoration work is no sweat for him. He also completely restored a rare caravan, which we display at shows on the classic caravan club stands.

We are not very good at putting photos on the Lane. Took OH ages to get the above the right size, and I feel as though I have strayed a long, long way from the post title. So, will it be all right do you think, to put the caravan photos on here, Wendy?

Lillia wrote:Spreckly, definitely start a new thread!! These are beautiful! I love gypsy caravans!! I have a board on Pinterest just for that!

My husband has a webshots page, Lillia. Don't know how it is accessed, but I think most of his decorative work is on that. He is busy right now, cutting up the wood for an arched window for our church, a far cry from how sick he was two weeks ago.

I have not heard of Pinterest, can you explain it to me, please.
