The centre post I have constructed myself from a piece of 12mm round bar and I have used weldable steel Bosses bored out to slip over it. The whole thing centres on an m8 grub screw that will lock N,S,E and W in position and the wind paddle rests on a central greased bearing. Painting still has to be done but I'm hopeful of producing two or three of different designs during the summer.

There's a few hours of drilling, building, cutting and welding there !!!

)app( )app( A brilliant job. I absolutely love it. I can imagine that it did take a long to make but the satisfaction that you got from doing it must be great.

No Bob, the stem is a series of seven weldable bosses along with a half boss and a 35mm diameter steel sphere bored out to slide over a 12mm diameter bar. A finished photo will be shown when I have completed it.
