Just been watching morning telly and they were interviewing Nicola Adams the lady that won gold in boxing. She was saying in 2009 she spent 3 months in hospital with a cracked vertebrae, what an achievement.

I hope the paralympians s get as much support but I'm disappointed to hear that there will be no stamps with paralympic gold medal winners. It's 2012, surely we're past 'hiding' or ignoring people with disabilities?

The thing is the Paralympics don't start till 29th August, so the Olympics will be over and done with by a fortnight. Enough time for all the hype to die down so the Paralympics will basically be forgotten about. Yes Channel 4 is broadcasting it but I doubt if it will have the coverage that BBC has done. Take today for instance we had BBC Breakfast Olympics from 6am. With only a half hour break for the news at 1 and 6pm (which will be all about the Olympics) it goes on till 1am Saturday morning. Thats 18 hours coverage and thats just 1 day. I can't see Channel 4 doing that, we shall see

Whilst I appreciate that the Para-Olympians are just as dedicated to their respective disciplines the Para-Olympics does not draw anywhere near as much interest and therefore sponsorship as the regular Olympics; I would therefore suggest that the coverage on channel four will not be as full as that on the beeb.
Let us not forget the registered disabled Olympians that have competed in the regular Olympics, some with a greater degree of success than others. We had the registered partially sighted archer from Korea and the chap from RSA with artificial lower legs who ran very well in the sprinty races.
One of June’s old work colleagues was a Para-Olympics gold medallist in the shot put, she came to our wedding, she is only about three foot tall and there is a great photo of me dancing the YMCA with her knelt down. Lovely Lady Kim, she doesn’t compete at that level anymore having retired.

Yes we are all just a little proud. )grin2(

This was at the wrestling today. He has been on all week, started with the Judo. So I have seen more of him this week than I have done for years. Even if only on the TV.
I think we have 4 more medals today, none Gold though.

The wonderful Mo has done it again. A gold in the Kayak first thing this morning and a bronze.
I do hope Tom Daley gets a medal, he deserves a bit of luck.
