ConcordeConcordeA friend's father had his 70th birthday and he loves the plane.
He's helped me out once or twice so I made him this: He was made up with it. All except the tail fin and the wheels were carved from a solid block of 8x2 Sanded (took hours) and then waxed. Re: ConcordeWow that's fantastic redoak no wonder he was made up with it
Do you do a lot of woodcarving? The talent for being happy is appreciating and liking what you have, instead of what you don't have
Woody Allen Re: ConcordeThanks Ellie - I used to do quite a bit but seem to be too busy now with my land/nursery. I do make all sorts of things though, from wood, metal, etc.
Re: ConcordeThat's a real talent. Hope things are going ok with your nursery! It must be a busy harvesting time

Re: ConcordeThat is truly beautiful, I wouldn't be able to resist touching it.

Re: ConcordeThat's lovely - what a beautiful thoughtful gift.

Re: Concordeyour creativity is awsome! C'mon now -- what ELSE can you do, my man. Somehow I am sure there is much, much more. Such talent and sensitivity isn't seen every day.
Re: ConcordeWOW......that is fabulous. If only the plane was still flying now. I was lucky enough to go on it twice and remember so vividly the day they stopped flying. I sat glued to the TV watching it all with 2 boxes of tissues. I loved that plane and even people who never flew on it loved it. I still get goose bumps when I talk about her. If only they had let Richard Branson take it over.
Re: ConcordeThat is awesome, you are a real craftsman Marc, what a thoughtful beautiful present to receive.

As I'm sure many of you know, it's very satisfying to create useful or beautiful things from raw materials. I get quite a kick now to visit his house and see it displayed on the cabinet in his lounge
Re: ConcordeA really fabulous piece of work and a very thoughtful gift. It looks great in the photo and must look more so when seeing the real thing as the wood grain will be more defined. You got a lovely finish on the Concord which must have taken quite a bit of work.
I am now a widow and live with my memories.
Re: ConcordeI keep coming back to have a look at this, Redoak. It is so beautifully done and superbly finished.
Have you ever thought of running woodcarving courses as an addition to your business? With your talent and qualities I'm sure you'd get takers. Or perhaps making wooden items/ bowls to sell on your stall? At craft fairs they sell for extortionate prices when they are this good.
