Another pair of twin dolls

Post by albertajune »

I made these for my sister. The dolls in real life are more light chocolate coloured, which took me a long time to get the colour, eventually with gravy browning.
My sister has very young mixed race grandchildren, so I thought it would be nice when they visit to see that grandma Gail has dollies the same colour as them.

Lovely idea. Your grandnieces (? if that is what they are) will love them.

I remember having 'twin' dolls. Just after the war toys were not so plentiful. I may have had other dolls but those I remember are The Twins, Drake (a stuffed golden cocker spaniel) and Teddy.
The twins were fairly neutral in my memory. Drake was the favourite. Teddy was the naughty one - often getting spanked.

Not sure what the twins were made of. Something pink that wasn't plastic or china. They ended up a bit pockmarked - maybe I washed them and shouldn't have.
