Train set and dolls house

Post by grandmaeileen »

We've decided to yet again have a go at building Keith's train set stuff and to do up my dolls house.

We've both had the above for years and keep saying we're going to have a craft room, so the spare bedroom is finally going to be sorted out yike* and cleared of junk to make room for the house and train stuff.

I've had a lighting kit for the house for ages, but never got round to installing it, so while the weather is naff and we can't get into the allotment >veg4< , (been dying to use these) we'll see how we get on.

Keep you posted
Mother of two, stepmum to two, all grown up and flown the nest. Grandma to Lucy, who's 12 and is my best friend. Two dogs, 6 Gingernut Rangers, and one lovely hubby!

Good luck Eileen, really looking forward to seeing some pictures. )t' Mrs B has a beautiful dolls house too.
Do you make a lot of the fixtures and fittings yourselves?

How lucky are you having an actual craft room!! envy}} I have 2 dolls houses which really need more doing to them. All the fittings and fixtures are there, but the soft furnishings are lacking. I like to make instead of buy where possible.
Looking forward to seeing yours when in a fit state to take photos. I will do the same.
What I am doing, is making any good family photos dolls house size, so that others who own it later can see who 'lived there'. I do this using a photo editing software.

yes you are so lucky. I have dolls and have to have them in the spare bedroom. So each time someone comes to stay we have to cart them out and pile them up some where )gr:
Photo's are a must when finished.

My dolly house, I built it from a kit with my ex. Doubt I will have room for it in my next house though.

One to be proud of MrsB. I love the style of the kitchen and is that a posh music room over the dining room? I think I just about make out a harp in the back corner.

Thanks June, yes it is a very posh music room with a wooden floor and a plaster ceiling lol

Once I had built and furnished the house I just lost interest in it, it only gets played with when little girls visit.

I have a little grocers shop too, I may do another shop as they are good fun.

I can vouch for little girls playing with it, Anna and Olivia thought it was the poshest dolls house they've ever seen and loved being allowed to play with it :-D

One of mine is a shop that I have made into a house. I wanted a tea shop but decided that there wasn't the room to do it as I wanted, so after seeing real converted shops in Suffolk, decided on that. Not only that, I don't think I would ever get it finished. So much easier to make sofa's etc. than lots of tables and chairs.

What lovely pictures :-D

OH has a thing about model trains and over the years we've had various layouts in various bedrooms.

Here are a few pics of one of the many different layouts that my OH, who also happens to be called Keith, had in one of our spare rooms. We had so many different layouts over the years, from Bassett Lowke to Hornby, I lose track of them {rofwl}
