What can I make?

Post by LisaB »

Hi everyone )wav(

Thanks to LittleBrownFrog's suggestion I have decided to set up a Folksy or Etsy shop and sell some homemade things as I have loads of materials and bits and bobs to use up. I'm not sure which to use yet - if anyone has any preferences please let me know :) x

I plan to make book marks and some pretty photoframes, and maybe some cushions.
Does anyone have any idea what else I can make?

Thank you xx

Sounds great Lisa. Have a look at the web site www.allaboutyou.com
There is a very good craft section, mainly sewing and knitting and does have good ideas of things to make from remnants. )t'
Let us know when you have actually made.

Glad you had a look. I think that there are some brilliant makes on there. I can't crochet either which is a shame as there are some lovely and cute bits to make. Must say that I only download the freebies from the craft section.
Just keep us updated with your makes.
By the way, the fabric chicken that I put up on here some time ago, came from that website. It was so easy to make and could be a doorstop.
Glad you are feeling motivated Lisa. {hug}

Oh Perchy they are wonderful! I especially love the rabbit. Do you mind if I ask where you get your material from? We only have a Boyes round here that I know of and it doesn't stock a wide variety of patterns.

I mainly beg steal and borrow material but I also go to charity shops you would be surprised how good some of the material is, the lilac for dolly's cot was a single duvet cover got two or three different sets and it cost £1.25. We also have a hope for the homeless storage unit that has donated samples from the likes of debenhams and Marks, Next and I buy quite alot from there, cheap as chips although I do say they are upcycled, recycled, a pillow case will make 2 girls pinnies, have a look around.
I did buy some new material from Turkey, am waiting for a good project for that )t'

Have you a market? the cheapest is still around £6 or 7 a metre, but some fabrics can be an awful lot more than that.

Good Luck )t'

Perchy they are really lovely, do you use a pattern or are they your own design :-D
Do you make them as gifts, or do you think it rude of me to ask if you would sell any of them

Iv been admiring the spotty one and cant help but notice the little white hen looks like a special girl {hug} Lindaxx

Do you leave them in the frames? I thought they were just to make it easiier to work on them.

I must apologise for giving you the wrong web site for the chicken pattern. I was very puzzled on trawling through it and not finding the chicken but then remembered :?
You can find the chook on http://www.red-brolly.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
On the left of the home page, click on things to make and it is there. also a lovely site for free sewing, embroidery and patchwork patterns.
Hope you find it and sorry
