Sounds like you are making good progress June!

I dont hold the wool properly, I kind of wind it round the hook like knitting :? but it works for me :-D

I think it's great that you are learning to crochet, I have always found it to be much faster than knitting, although it's been some years since I have done any! I think I started doing crochet when I was about 19 and crocheted my future husband a bright green scarf. I know when I was knitting a lot of baby clothes they called for some crochet edging on them, so was useful to know how to do it. I still have the same little book I bought back in the 70's with some really old fashioned pictures in it {rofwl}

I could never get the hang of holding the yarn in my left hand, I couldn't tension it. Holding it in my right hand and wrapping around the hook (like Helen does) works for me too.

There is no right way or wrong way, whatever way suits you is the way to go )t'

Watching me finish my first square, OH said he was sure it wouldn't always take me so long, as he has seen other OLD LADIES doing it very quickly and not even looking at their work {rofwl}
So different from the flattery I used to get.
