What lovely socks and great colours - in no way detrimental, but it's kind of 50's / 60's jumper, love it.

Thank you {hug} I expect the second sock to be a different size, shape and be full of holes {rofwl}. I am not good at making 2 of anything as I generally wing it the first time! +f+

They are not without fault, but must say that I am rather proud of them. Also they are so comfy and warm, and give me much pleasure when I wear them :-D

Now I'm confused. Looking at the picture I thought the wool changed colour (I think I've used variegated embroidery silk in long ago childhood). But the stripes match on the pairs of sock. How does that work?

Magic Mo, magic! {rofwl}

Actually, what it really involves is me getting my lovely new ball of wool and pulling the centre out and searching through the yarn, looking for a repeat pattern. This doesn't take too long, but it's the other hour or so trying to untangle the chaos and rewind into two balls that is a bit irksome!! Mind you, worth it I think! :-D

How you're mocking me {cry}
How does it really work?

I love the swirly jam & custard in the yellow socks.

No really, that is how it works. Link to better explanation HERE

I would say that mine looks much more chaotic than her photos when I do it, and the first time I did it, I thought I would never get the yarn unknotted again and wanted to cry {rofwl}

Gosh, I had imagined that maybe you'd buy 2 identical balls and then wonder what to do with what was left over.

Now, next question,
How do they manage to get the repeat pattern into the wool.

Hahaha! Now THAT I have no idea about {rofwl} I know some sockers buy hand dyed yarn, and I have wondered if that has a repeat :?

There is a Regia Pairfect yarn that is supposed to match if you buy 2 balls. I also know that some people have bought 2x50g of various yarns (I buy 100g) and when trying to find the pattern match, have found that the balls have been wound different ways yike* You have to match from the same direction, otherwise the pattern would be opposite (if you see what I mean)

Some people don't match their socks at all, but I rather like them to match. Mind you, that may change.
