walking maps online

I'm trying to work out how far I walked while on holiday in Whitby (Folk Week), but Google maps doesn't show the little alleys and flights of steps that I used as short cuts to try to get between different workshops (storytelling, singing, playing, dancing) in different parts of town. I ought to be fitter than when I started as there was only 10 mins to get there, so I did a lot of hill running.
I'm sure there are other maps, but google won't find them.
I don't think I'm back down to earth yet

Hi Mo...
Go to Google Maps.
Click on spot you started.
Don't move mouse and right click
Click 'measure distance'.
Then click the next spot - then the next etc.
I use it a lot and works well.
When finished, right click anywhere and clear.

Yes, but google maps doesn't show the detail that OS does. You can't see the alleyways, just the roads.
If I put Whitby Fishermans Society, The Cragg, Whitby and
Cliffe street Whitby and press the walking man, it gives me 2 routes, along the harbour and up the road. But I know there are alleyways, and flights of steps straight up the cliff.
So are there maps that do give walking routes through alleyways & footpaths? Across cliff tops?

Ah., I see what you mean. Satellite View sometimes shows up gaps and paths.
I assume you've been on the OS map?
There's one of Whitby here..

I don't know if you will find maps which give that much detail, Mo. That kind of knowledge is often only known to the local people who live there.
