Small jars can be made into teelight holders. I painted these with nail varnish I bought at a car boot sale for 10p each. Add some wire round the top to hang them.

An idea if you have a grotty plain table lamp. I got the lamp base for 20p at a car boot sale and gave it a crochet cover. Start with a circle for the bottom, increasing stitches. When it's big enough to cover the bottom carry on going round and round, still increasing a little bit. When it gets to the widest point you have to put the base into the jacket and carry on, decreasing to give it a snug fit. keep decreasing till you get to the narrowest point at the top. You need to make sure that the flex is poking through the stitches.

I found a shade in a second hand shop which was perfect for it. I added the pink trimming with glue. My little lamp is next to me and gives out just enough light to see the keyboard. I love it.

This is an idea for those who want to paint a picture, but are not very good at it, like me. :-D It's a cheats way of painting. Find a piece of fabric with a simple bold design with not too much detail. Thick fabric is best. Small pots of tester household emulsion paint, and paint over the design with the colours you like. Find a second hand frame of the right size, and paint it to compliment the picture. I chose black for this one as it brings out the bold colours.

Recently finished a picture, it's taken a while to do. Needle felting, embroidery, and beads. I call it Octopus's Garden. Now I need to frame it.

Beautiful and so clever, )like(
Do you keep them yourself, sell or give to charity.
I cross stitch and now have so many on the walls. I do them
for different charities.
I have just finished 4 small pictures and about 12 cards Forever hounds.
Now I am off again for Rottweiler Welfare

Hi Wendy. Up to now I have been keeping my pictures. Such a lot of work goes into them, and I am so pleased with the end result, I don't want to get rid of them. I have four on my own walls and occasionally change them around, but the rest are wrapped up in old sheets to keep them clean and prevent damage.

It is getting to the point now that I want to exhibit them, and maybe sell a few, so I will be applying to galleries when they have open exhibitions. There is also an art event on in Skipton that I would like to get into.

The smaller items I either sell for charity, our cat rescue, or give them away to friends. Our craft group has a stall at the Christmas market in the Village Hall in December so I am making a few small items for that. Again the money will go to the cats.

Keep on with the cross stitch, I really enjoy my time with a needle and thread.

Ilona

Just to add, my blog readers often ask if they can buy from me, but I say no, because once the shipping costs have been added the item would be quite costly.

Me too Ilona, I can lose myself in my stitching.

I have exhibited a number of mine and I am pleased to say the lowest I have got is 2 nd.
Go for it. Others should see your work.

If we lived closer to each other, Wendy, we could meet up for a stitch and bitch {rofwl}

Latest make. I found a wooden letter rack at a charity shop for 50p. An idea immediately came to mind.

Paint it, put some polystyrene in the bottom topped with a green mesh bag.
Make some flowers out of cotton fabric, felt, and wire.

And make an miniature indoor garden.

Tried my hand at wet felting on Wednesday. Went to a lovely ladies house, Sue Hawkmoon, and had three and a half hours tuition. There was three of us learning how to do it.

My picture. I am now adding embroidery to it.
