Welfare reform petition

Post by baileysgnasha »

Please sign this petition , many of you may not have heard about bedroom tax, it affects you if you are of working age and claiming housing benefit , it is applicable to council, private rent and housing association tenants , if you have an unoccupied room from April 2013 you will have 14% of your rent deducted from your benefits automatically for one spare room and 20% for two spare rooms or more. Children of the same s.ex under 15 will be expected to share a room from april 2013 and children of the opposite s.ex will only be entitled to a spare room once the eldest child reaches 10. If you have a spare room for children who do not live with you full time from April 2013 you will no longer be entitled to the spare room. If you have disability and require a spare room you will no longer be entitled either unless you have a carer having overnight stays with you. Check newslettera or search bedroom tax online to see how it affects you! sign this if you agree its unfair and pass this on peeps.

So does that mean that if you move from a 'too big' house to one with less bedrooms but higher rent that they will pay the higher rent, but if you stay they will cut your allowance?

I dont know what the full score is but we are in a 3 bed with rent being £91 a week from april 2013 or sept 2012 whenever they decide to bring it in we will pay £50p/m as we will have one spare room. But if we downsize to a 2 bed same area rent is £91 a week which they will pay all of it or if rent is £120 they will pay all of it because we are entitled to a 2 bed. So it makes no sense to me how they wont pay £91 but will pay £120. I can see some sense in this in respect that why should people be entitled to spare rooms paid for by tax payers but people need more notice as having to downsize is going to put us in debt.
