Tongue and cheeks

Post by Gwenoakes »

Years ago I used to buy fish tongue and cheeks mainly for a treat for the dog and cat we had at the time, but also we used to eat it as well if we were very hard up any given week.

I have asked everywhere including fishmongers, but no one seems to sell them now and I just wondered why. Did any of you peeps used to buy them or have you seen them lately?

I have used monkfish cheeks before, cooked in the same way, it was very nice. I think that a lot of these by products go into fish equivalent of what the end of lay batties end up in, pies, stock cubes, pet food etc.
