I live in the wilds of Cheshire. Not very remote really but with overhead wires there are power-cuts*
So when we moved here we set things up so that we wouldn't be stuck. A fireplace in one room unblocked and a Calor cooker.The oven keeps the kitchen cosy. BUT When I bought a new cooker I didn't realise that the timer (that I didn't want, never use) turns off the oven if the power goes off. Grrrr. Still have the rings & grill.


* I phoned once to say I could see the wires that were crossed. But they had my postcode wrong - more than one lanes with that name in our post town. So I waited all day.
Another cut was caused by that line breaking or coming away from the post, and coming down in my daughters menage. The rubber chippings were smouldering when she went to feed the horses!
