I live in a small market town and the government has told the local council that it needs to build 21,000 new home in three areas. That is about a third of what the town has at the moment. So lets do some maths, 21,000 X 2 people per home = 42,000 extra people in the town. At the moment we don’t have the work locally for the people that live here now. So where are these people going to find work?

The two small towns near where I live are supposed to get about 11000, then of course there will be the infill. A Minster says that he will not lose any sleep when the population reaches 70 million (plus the ones they can't count). The houses they are putting up are the slums of tomorrow and the services can't handle the volume. They don't care about the quality of life only what 'targets' they have met. I don't trust their maths for one minute.
Being cynical it makes you wonder how much big business has a hand in this.
