I have just attended a UK Trade and Industry event at your Hotel in edited, staying overnight Wednesday 21st November. It is a splendid hotel, and it was very comfortable. However, I do have a complaint. I was expecting a first class breakfast this morning to go with the rest of the first class accommodation, but was very disappointed to be served cheap, wishy washy yoked battery farm eggs. Battery eggs are produced in a cruel and unnatural environment for hens. The yolks are a pale insipid yellow. They are the sort of eggs that I would expect to be served at a roadside caravan - not an expensive hotel! Can I recommend that you review your egg purchasing, and move to obtaining local free range eggs instead. Yolks from free range eggs taste noticeably better, and are a very deep yellow, almost orange in colour, as the hens have access to grass, insects and worms. In fact free range hens have an altogether better life. Importantly, the cost of these free range eggs isn't that much more, and you wouldn't want to ruin a reputation for quality over something so easy to rectify. You might want to have look at the link below for some more information. http://www.downthelane.net/battery.html Rgds Russell

Well done Russell, but I must edit the Hotel name as it's an accusation made in the public domain (and I'm personally and soley responsible for all content posted).
But, excellant stuff mate and exactly what a lot more people should be doing Richard New Member? Get more from the Forum and join in 'Members Chat' - you're very welcome
...on the 'same' subject, I was particularly proud of Hubby yesterday - he's in the Met, and had to go on a course. He came home yesterday, muttering and moaning, until I demanded toknow what on earth had gotten into him.
Well, apparently, at lunch time, the rest of the course wanted to go to edited name of fast food chain for something to eat. However, after an education in Battery farming via Hubby, they all changed their minds. What a good boy he is!!! Hope it lasts longer than a day though, and that they think about it again before setting foot in those sorts of places....... My Websites; http://www.tranquillitytherapies.co.uk
You have to shame people into it, a sad fact, but none the less a fact.
I never watch cookery programmes, but last night watched Rick Stein in Corfu, while out there he asked all the "brits" teenagers i must add, what food they came to Corfu for, guess what their answer was.......... KFC, MacDonalds, chips & Brown beer. Heathens (s) the lot of them They could go to Bedford for that & leave the Med for people who appreciate it. Cheers
mel x Well done to your OH. Change one persons shopping habits and they in turn will do the same. A little creeping virus of no cruelty to chickens will spread across this Country. The only way we will alter it, is to vote with our money.

We were out pricing up roofing work yesterday and got a bit peckish, as you do. Called in at a Little Chef and looking through the menu were pleasantly surprised to see that all their eggs are from free range eggs. So I had a lovely omlette. If the company owning Little Chef outlets can do it, so can everyone else dont you think? Sent this today..Well done Russell - I hope to goodness you didn't eat it? You should have asked for a refund for that portion of the food!!
Every Wednesday we have lunch out. Went into J D Wetherspoons a couple of weeks ago. They had a leaflet saying they only use free range eggs. I did thank the waiter, who I am sure thought I was crazy. But he will go back and tell someone about the mad woman and it will get back.

Sent an e-mail to edited, and this is the reply :
"Thank you for your email regarding edited Mayonnaise. All eggs used by edited UK Foods are sourced from within the EU. We have a close relationship with our European suppliers and our consumers can be reassured that their farms comply with all relevant EU regulations, which are acknowledged to be the most stringent in the world. They have recently been strengthened. As part of our buying policy, we work closely with producers to make sure the highest standards are strictly followed. It is also important to highlight that there is insufficient farm capacity at this time to sustain support for the edited business with free-range eggs. In addition, our ongoing consumer research into this area shows that consumer interest in a free-range edited product is currently too small to support a free range option. I hope you are reassured to learn that we will continue to keep both our sourcing policy and consumer preferences under regular scrutiny. Our intention is always to satisfy, where viable, the full range of consumer needs in the market place and this is reflected in the variety of the foods portfolio that edited company name markets in the UK.
