Well I went over to the PP forum earlier to have a look and I was shocked, horrified and dismayed at the amount of abuse Carly and the other volenteers have recieved...what a shame how these things can snowball out of control.

keep up the good work carly )t'

Wendy ... I am so shocked.. I would have thought that it wouldn't matter how they are rescued as long as they are. 50p per bird is so worth it, and this was probably what the farmer would have got if they went for slaughter.
The bigger picture is that at the end of the day the farmer still has to make a living.
I hope that all the volunteers are Ok and the hens have a lovely new life.

Well Carly certainly has taken a battering.
ALL of which is totally unjustified.
They cost £1 per bird. Because being the first rescue Carly had to buy the boxes which, I believe were over £250.00.
The main thing through all this, was the hens have all gone to lovely homes and are totally oblivious to all that has gone on.

Well, this is going to be my only bit of b*tching on here -

I am a member of PP forum ** and I have to say I don't think Richard/down the lane mods would have allowed the amount of abuse/negativity on this forum. Action would have been taken to terminate the threads.

I think it is disgraceful what she has had to go through over the course of the past month.

Funny, a couple of the people who were responsible for the mud-slinging seem to be keeping a low profile. Shame on them!

I would like to say that I think Carly's statement was made with great dignity on her part. Let's now all look forward to doing what Chickenchaser said - getting on with rescues and enjoying our hens.

Sorry for the rant - Richard - I am sure if I have said anything inappropriate please feel free to have it removed.

Edited to add I have made my feelings known to the admin/mods of PPF.

Well done Wendy! )t'

In the real world no-one gets it right all the time, at least Carly tried, and continues to, if we had more people like her the world would be much improved.

She must be feeling dreadful, and should be encouraged not harangued.

People can be really horrible, it would only take a little effort to help out instead of being vindictive. Lessons are usually only learnt by mistakes, our own mistakes, and I don't believe there is one person in the world who hasn't made at least a few.
Everything comes to those who wait...
