Home for 3/4 available - NE Lincolnshire

Post by Joannie »

Hi all. Newbie to the forum (and to chicken keeping!). Lots of very useful information on here which is so helpful. We've rescued ponies, dogs and snakes before but not chooks. We're looking to start off small (I gather they're addictive) and will not be keeping for eggs or meat (we are a veggie family) so would like about 3 or 4 to begin with. I gather we've missed the last BHWT release and are a long way from London (unless ours can hitch a ride). Have seen 7 need a home on another forum this morning but they are in Exmoor! If anyone knows which direction to point us in that'd be great.

Thanks!

If your not desperate for them straight away north london hen rescue are scheduled to rescue in October. I have been put on their list for some, and also offered help with the rescue, so all things allowing, there should be hens coming to N E Lincs then.

I dont know where in North Lincs you are, but Brigg have a market on a Friday where they auction poultry, and I was told they were auctioning ex-batts at 75p each.

Hi Joannie - don't be misled by the name North London Hen Rescue has re-homers throughout the country and deliver to local co-ordinators. Put your name down for some and Carly will let you know when next rescue will be.

Thanks for your replies. We're not in any rush although it would be nice to be organised before the winter sets in. We're not terribly far from Brigg so thanks for the heads up on that one - we might take a wander over there one Friday otherwise happy to wait until Oct or whenever.

Fab. Cheers!
