Down the Lane

I am urgently seeking a new home for a very loving, handsome, 5 week old hybrid cockerel.
He is mainly Rhode Island Red. We were given some eggs to hatch and now have a gorgeous boy and girl whom the kids love dearly. However, my eldest child has been very ill and it's with immense sadness that we are having to re home the chickens. We would ideally like them to be re homed together but finding a forever home for the cockerel is proving almost impossible so he is our priority. We don't want to have him killed as he's part of the family. Please help!!

I'm sorry to learn of the circumstances and hope your son gets better.

Weekends are a little quiet here, but hopefully someone will notice your post.

I should say that Cockerels are somewhat harder to find homes for, obvious reasons, noise and mixing with Hens etc.

Just one thing, what area do you live in?

We live in Greater Manchester but would be willing to travel to re home him, within reason!!

Do you have a local petting zoo? They may be interested

try the facebook group "cockerel Trader". I found my boy on there. Otherwise you may have better luck rehoming him with a hen or two.

I have tried our local petting zoo but they didn't have the space. I am going to contact one a bit further away and see what they say.

I am waiting to be accepted onto the cockerel trader page too.

in the past I have rehomed some through preloved too. Put in a really nice photo & stress how friendly he is (I presume he is), ask a couple of £ (to put off those looking for a free meal) I always delivered them myself & was prepared to bring them home if I didnt like where they were going.

Still looking for forever happily after for them both!
