Supervet

Here's a brilliant read for you.....

Noel Fitzpatrick documents his journey from the humble beginnings as a boy working on his Daddys farm in Ireland, through his school years, and further education, right through to his TV show The Supervet, and his animal hospital.

His vet training took him all over the world, as he relentlessly studied hard taking advantage of the highest level of training available to him. He pushed himself to the limits of physical and mental exhaustion to gain the qualifications he needed to follow his dream. Basically his work came first before everything else.

His beloved Border Terrier, Keira is the love of his life, and has been by his side as he has dealt with the ups and downs of his amazing career. He set up Fitzpatrick Referrals in Surrey, one of the most advanced small animal specialist centres in the world.

The book is about love, hope, and compassion and the bond between humans and animals. It's heartwarming, inspiring, and to be honest, it would make a brilliant film.

Thoroughly recommend. I got it from the library, gave it back today because they have a waiting list.

I saw a short clip of him on think it was This Morning he apparently was bullied as a child, did not do well at school. I am sure he said his inspiration for becoming a vet came from him not being able to save a sheep on the farm.
He is a very, very compassionate, caring man, he did say that not all his work was like on the tv show, 80% being as mundane as corns on dogs feet.
I wonder how the ones that bullied him feel now and where they have got in life.
He also said that being out on tour he lost his voice. LOL

The sheep was heavily pregnant and fell into a ditch, it was freezing cold. He had done lambing before with his Daddy, so had a good idea what to do. He couldn't get the sheep out so he had to assist the birth where it was. One came out dead and he thought that was that, then realized there was another one. This one died soon after birth. He was devastated that he wasn't able to save them, so he decided that was going to be his career, saving animals.

Yes, I wonder if the bullies remember him from school.
