Steve Jobs

Post by Meanqueen »

I've just finished reading Steve Jobs biography by Walter Isaacson. It was a marathon, 530 pages long. A fascinating insight into a very complex man. He believed he was invincible, and refused conventional treatment for his cancer in the beginning. He had to give in and accept it towards the end.

My oh my, he must have been hellish to work for, but look what he achieved. Multimillionaire in his twenties, was chucked out of Apple, it went downhill, then went back and turned it around ten years later. The man was a genius, but a very troubled one. He sacked people with a minutes notice, he was a perfectionist, every detail had to be right.

The author interviewed 100 people who knew him, over two years. It's a very detailed account of his life. Steve wanted nothing leaving out, he didn't get to read it before he died.

I thought I might be baffled by all the computer speak, but I was able to follow it. A good read if you are into psychology, and the history of Apple Computers.
