Pleased as punch! My home made butterPleased as punch! My home made butterLookie, what I have made.
My very first home made butter, and you know what it taste Grrrrrreat! Pleased as punch!Hi WendyM
Well done, same question as Richard asked is it salted or unsalted? Does it taste good? Oh its salted, gives it a little kick and hopefully helps it last a little longer.
This was sooooooooo easy. I was looking for a churn but couldn't find one suitable. so I left out a pint of double cream all day on the side, then put it in the mixer on slow and watched it until I could start to see the butter milk leak out of the cream. Then I lined the wall of the mixer with the butter and poured out the milk until no more came out. I then scooped out the butter into cold water and gave it a good squeeze, refreshed the water a couple more times. Then gave it a good bashing with the wooden spoons and then added about a teaspoon or so of salt. Hay presto, Butter! Hubby was impressed with me. WOW how clever are you.
I am amazed Well done Wendy http://www.busheyk9.co.uk
If you can't be a good example........ you will just have to be a horrible warning I read that if the cream is too cold it won't split. Also your hands have to be cold to squeeze the butter so I just ran them under the cold tap for a bit. Apparently the best cream to use is cream a day or two after its best before date. This one wasn't it still had a few days to go. Making your own butter isn't a way to save money, as the cream cost more than to buy butter. But I still have the buttermilk in the fridge to use up. If you can find reduced cream then its worth it or if you are going to throw some out that was from yesterday. Or you are friends with a hurds man.
