train tickets????

Post by Mo »

It's years since I travelled by train. I have been wrestling with the different websites offering tickets from Crewe to Guildford.
There are trains at about 30 min intervals and tickets called Anytime single. For some trains these are £130 (glug) for others (different trains on different websites) £77.50 (quite bad enough).
So can I still use the cheaper ones any time?

I think you can use the anytime singles, anytime, but there will be restrictions.

Are you limited to when you can travel? as national rail have a cheapest ticket finder which is good if you can be flexible with dates/ times.

Good luck!!

Some one in the UK told me about a company called "red spotted hankie" did good deals on rail tickets but you may have to book them in advance.

Oh Mo, we do a lot of train travel and I honestly don't know where they dream the prices up from sometimes! >dum<

As Jenny's said there is a company by the name of 'RedSpottedHanky' and I've used them numerous times and found them very good with prices. Here's their website:

I used the traaainline.com and found a real bargain when I travelled recently, but I had to get a specific train.

Having been a Revenue Protection Officer (Ticket Inspector), even ticket prices and restricitions were hard for us to remember at times, as they varied so much between companies, following privatisation. For those of us fortunate enough to use the internet, go to the National Rail Enquiries site, and plan your journey, then see what ticket they suggest, as well as any changes needed on the journey.
