We tried the spray oil, oven method for chips on Saturday. Both agreed that chips out of the frying pan are much nicer. For tea last night we did roast spuds sprayed with the oil, and they were OK.

Hi

Our kids clubbed together and bought us an Actifry last Christmas. I like it and the chips we produce but I don't think I would actually have bought one for myself. We use it about once a month so it has not seen a lot of active service and already the nonstick coating is showing signs of wear.

Oven chips, bought or DIY cook much quicker than the Actifry too. When it wears out, we won't be replacing it (but we are grateful to the family for the opportunity to have tried it).

Update:

In the Daily Mail today there is a review of the Actifry and they give it 9/10. I wouldn't put it that high having used it for a year and the lack of durability would make my score lower still. I've read about other people having problems like mine in reviews such as in threads on www.moneysavingexpert.com.

We have just had chips done in the frying pan for tea!!!!! Tried the oven, oil sprayed method, and decided fry up is tastier - just a small, occasional treat.
